This course provides hands-on practice in the application of echocardiographic techniques and electrocardiography (ECG) for the evaluation of cardiac anatomy and function. Students will gain proficiency in image acquisition, documentation, and basic quantitative and qualitative assessment of the adult heart. Emphasis is placed on proper use of 2D, M-mode, and Doppler modalities, calculation of cardiac parameters, and accurate application of medical terminology during image documentation and reporting. Practice will be performed in a controlled lab setting using volunteer models and simulation.
