DESL 1141 - Diesel Engine Identification and Operating Principles

The course will prepare students to identify engines by make, model, displacement, orientation, horsepower, and torque. The student will learn how to locate parts and service information for various diesel and equipment manufacturers. Students will be instructed on how to identify parts and understand the fundamental operation of diesel engines. Activities include the disassembly of engines; identification and inspection of parts for reuse in accordance with manufacturers guidelines; and reassembly of engines.
