NURS 2740 - Nursing Care Of The Client With Alterations In Mental Health 4 Credits Hour(s) 3 Lecture Clock Hour(s) 3 Clinical / Studio / Internship Clock Hour(s) Credit Summary: (4-3-0-3)
Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the clinical component of the nursing program and C or better in (Traditional) NURS 2300, NURS 2750, AND NURS 2800, OR (Transitions/Bridge) NURS 2300, NURS 2750, AND NURS 1320 An introduction to the basic concepts of psychiatric-mental health nursing care as applied to the nursing process for the patient/client experiencing alterations in emotional, behavioral, mental and social functioning. Integration of pharmacology and therapeutic communication are emphasized and principles of pathophysiology, lifespan and socio-cultural influences are addressed, as well as theories of wellness, promotion of mental health, and methods of treatment associated with mental health nursing care and rehabilitation. This course contains a 45-hour clinical component.
